365体育备用网站McLaren has confirmed that all of its team members have now returned home safely following their quarantine at Formula 1’s Australian Grand Prix.
One team member from McLaren’s travelling personnel tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus on Thursday evening at the Australian Grand Prix.
It prompted the team to withdraw from the event, which was cancelled in its entirety the following day.
McLaren later confirmed that 16 members of its crew self-isolated in Melbourne as a precaution.
All bar the initial person who tested positive, who has since recovered from the virus, returned negative test results.
365体育备用网站“We are pleased to confirm that as of yesterday evening, all team personnel who were in self-isolation in Melbourne, as well as management who had stayed with them, have now safely returned home,” McLaren confirmed on Thursday.
“Thanks once again on behalf of the team for all the support and well wishes.”
McLaren is pressing ahead with plans to switch to Mercedes power units in 2021 in spite of the regulatory overhaul being deferred by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
365体育备用网站The 2020 Formula 1 season will not begin until at least mid-June after all upcoming events through until Canada were either postponed or cancelled.
